Philips Electronics recently developed technology that gives tv stations the ability to make commercials non-skipable. Truly flawed. I can skip any commercial I want by simply ignoring it and who in their right mind would purchase a set-top box with the technology embedded?
Trying to buy Crown and of course it is locked up to prevent theft. Now if you were going to make customers call on an employee for access, don't you think it would make sense to put a call button or something? Obviously Sav-a-Center doesn't think so.
ABC and Disney are trying to build the future of TV - streaming via the Internet with ads that cannot be skipped. To make it even more fun, they've cut down the number and length of ad pods and are even planning to let you choose between traditional commercials and new "gamercials" (my made up term).
Very cool but in the early days could be pretty scary for local advertisers who won't be able to afford to play.
