Is there a single image, sound, ethos or stimuli that would stimulate your entire customer base to have an almost Pavlovian response like the one above? If not, ask yourself how cool would it be if it did. What could you do with that kind of responsive energy?
Let me back up a step. I snapped the image above this weekend at my daughter's state dance competition. As all the teams were sitting on the gym floor waiting for what seemed like an eternity for the judges to finish the scoring... there was cool dance music playing. At one point, One Time by Justin Bieber comes over the speaker and the image above captures what happened. Almost in unison, the floor erupted into a sea of dance. There was no instruction, no ripple, just that Pavlovian need to move.
But that makes perfect sense. For dancers, the unifying thing is music. Specifically, dance music. They are almost physically incapable of not dancing, moving, swaying or something when they hear it.
Which got me to thinking. Do my clients' brands have a similar unifying thing? Is there a universal north start that all of their customers would follow? Honestly, I don't know. I've been thinking about it all weekend and on the plane today. Why? Because if they do have this universal connection with their customer and we can figure it out, harness it and direct it -- man I'm thinking that could be powerful.
What do you think? Does your brand have a universal connector with it's customers? Does any brand?
