Yesterday Seth Godin wrote a post about his theory of Tens. Now I am not taking issue with the idea that every "marketing expert" starts small. I love his whole Tribe idea and agree, even Seth was at one point in time, unknown.
But the question that I think he doesn't address, and one I hope to test today, what happens if those ten folks think you are brilliant but they don't care enough about your success to share your name with others? Not that they are trying not to help you but it isn't in their DNA to think about telling others about you.
So today I want to test Seth's theory. I have a few more than 10 folks that are regular readers of this blog, so today, do me a favor. If you truly think what I share here is brilliant, helpful, and others can gain benefit from it, send a link to the blog to 5 or 10 folks that you think would benefit. Include a little note that tells them they really should go read this blog AND subscribe to the RSS feed. I'm going to use the RSS feed subscription numbers to track this little test. Lastly, drop me a quick comment that says you played along and how many folks you sent the message to.
Then go about your business as usual. I'll report back next week as to the success or failure of the test.
Oh and one more thing -- what do you think about Seth's theory?
