While many of us in the social media marketing and digital marketing space are quite familiar with the concept of geotagging, I was surprised to find how the general population was largely unaware.
Sure they get the idea that if you check-in somewhere, that information is geotagged. But it seems most are completely unaware that smartphone pics, like the ones we take and share on our android phones, iPhones, and Blackberry's also contain meta data that provides among other things, the longitude and lattitude of where that photo was taken.
Our local Fox8 station did a story about Geotagging this week and invited me to share my thoughts and demonstrate just how much information that iPhone pic you share contains.
