Ever since I had to hire my first Social Media Manager, I've believed that it's the single, most difficult hire I've made in my entire career. From figuring out what salary to pay, what skills are required, and where to look for this talent to just determining if the person is supplying real value or not... hiring social media managers is just harder than a "standard" hire in the marketing world.
The folks at the TACVB Conference in Texas this year invited me to share my thinking on the subject. So here it is, including the sync'd audio... give it a listen and then tell me what you think.
Do the stats match up with what you've seen? Did I miss anything? I'm delivering a similar talk in October and I'd love to add any missing information to improve the talk... so let me know in the comments.
